Logging Options

The Supervisor 9 utility supports two different types of logging, which are discussed below.  The Logging Config dialog permits the user to enable/disable each type of log, and to set parameters for each.

NOTE:  BOTH of these logging functions require Polling to be enabled.  If Polling is not enabled on a given device, you can enable logging, but there won't be much interesting data to be logged.

The ALARMS log contains a report for each time that a change occurs in the alarm report for the device.

ALARMS log options

1. Enable ALARMS logging - Enables ALARMS logging.

2. Send log by Email - Periodically sends the ALARMS log to the specified Email recipient.  See the Monitor tabs topic for a discussion of defining SMTP parameters.

3. Email report frequency - Specifies how often, in minutes, the ALARMS log will be sent.

The TREND log contains a list of comma-delimited reports which summarize the state of the device.  The entries in this log are updated periodically, the period is determined by the Log update frequency field on this dialog.  This file can be imported into a charting program such as Excel, to monitor long-term behavior of the device.

TREND log options

1. Enable TREND logging - Enables TREND logging.

2. Log update frequency - Specifies how often, in minutes, the TREND log entries will be generated.

3. Send log by Email - Periodically sends the TREND log to the specified Email recipient.  See the Monitor tabs topic for a discussion of defining SMTP parameters.

4. Email report frequency - Specifies how often, in minutes, the TREND log will be sent.
