Supervisor 9 M&C Utility

Supervisor 9 (also referred to as Svr9) is a Windows program which provides Monitor and Control (M&C) functionality for Anacom radios and protection switches.  Many existing AnaCom customers are accustomed to an earlier M&C program, also called SupervisorSupervisor 9 uses an entirely different paradigm for radio control than Supervisor did; as a result, users who have spent time with Supervisor may be initially disconcerted by Svr9's interface.  We encourage users to look at Supervisor 9 with fresh eyes, and not judge it by the way others have worked!!

Supervisor 9 has a comm-port-centered view of the world, rather than Supervisor's ODU-centric view; it can manage large numbers of serial ports with ease, even non-standard serial ports such as USB-to-serial-port adapters.  Each comm port which is opened in Svr9 will be represented by a dialog page in the Comm Port property sheet (see CommPort tabs page in this help file).  Each device which is discovered on any comm port will have a dialog page devoted to it in the Monitor property sheet (see Monitor tabs page in this help file).

Getting Started

When Svr9 is run for the first time, the Device Summary Listview and an empty CommPort will be the only window that opens, and they will contain no data in the table.  Read the Quick Start topic in this help file to learn how to start using Svr9.

The Supervisor 9 interface consists of three primary windows:

  1. Device Summary Listview

Presents a summary of discovered devices, with key parameters displayed.  This dialog also contains the Add  Serial Port and Add Ethernet Port buttons which create the CommPort property sheet.

  1. CommPort property sheet

This is a tabbed control which contains tabs for each serial port which are managed by the program.  Each tab provides an interface to one serial port, including a terminal window for showing responses from, and status related to, the devices on the serial port.

  1. Device Monitor property sheet

This is a tabbed control which contains tabs for one or more devices which have been discovered by the CommPort controls.  Each Monitor tab displays status information about one radio or protection switch, and provides other functions as well.
